Some years ago, my dear friend Eva, she's living for a while in England, I'm not sure how long, offered me this tiny little metal box with a sentence that could have been written by me!

Not really about men, that actually it seems to be true (...), but because she knows me very well, she knows how much I love a brand new pair of shoes! I mean, not an ordinary pair, it must be one pair of shoes that makes me feel butterflies in my tummy, and my heart's bit goes with the jingle of an imaginary bell in my head, and when I say "brand new", whar I really want to say is that it is new for me!

They can be vintage, second hand, the one that is not fashionable anymore, but it is "THE ONE"!

Today I visited the Shoe Museum in my home town for the new exhibition "Babuchas e as Mulheres" that marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

I think our society still believe shoes are a futile "girls thing", which I totally disagree. Not just because it is not just a fem thing, you know, men usually don't walk barefoot, right?!

Besides protect a part of our human body, shoes also have an important part to express a lot of characteristics of the society itself!

I see shoes as a very important tool, as clothes are, to express ourselves, to express our personality - as individuals and as part of a group, to make a statment position, to give us memories when we must choose that pair of shoes and not the other one because one is more apropriate for the ocasion than the other... also, I see shoes as piece of art too!

It wasn't the first time I visit the museum, and I still enjoy the space, the shoe's history throught time, 70's and 80's are my favourite styles, and it is also nice to learn more about the process of making a shoe, and to be in contact with the collection that has grown since the last visit.

Everytime I go there it makes me remember my grandfather Armando, the most beautiful man (and handsome too) in the world! He was a shoe maker, had his own small factory and he was a very important suport from my happy childhood.

I still remember the leather smell, his old radio playing and the uncontable stories me and my sister had invented and played there.

He's an Alzheimer patient for a long time, doesn't even know me anymore, and it still hurts to deal with that.

I miss my grandpa... wish he could still share his stories with us...

Museums have this thing of preserv important parts of societies, comunities, human history, but this one is very familiar to me.

Anyway, what about you? HOW WAS YOUR SUNDAY?

Today is World Menthal Health Day!

Most of the times we "celebrate" a special day about something, I use to think "why do we even need to mark a day to remember about that?!", but the truth is we all live so busy in our own lifes, we all have so much to think and to care about, that it actually makes sence to take a little time to give more attention and reflect about  many important themes.

"Menthal Health" - no, I will not talk about my issues again, today I'll just make a suggestion about a very interesting Art Exhibition I visited at Centro de Arte Oliva , "EUREKA!" where you can appreciate the art work of many different artists, some self-taught, and the most interesting for me was the fact that many of them had (or still have, because some are still alive) obssessive compulsive problems and other menthal disorders, and drawing or collecting objects, little piece of papers, even callendars, all the kind of support for their menthal issues expression became pieces of art.

For instance, Mónica Machado, she's a portuguese artist living and working in Paris and her art work results from a kind of cumulative obsession, building scultures with little frames and pieces from objects, taking them from their "natural ambience" to transform them into another unique combined piece.

PéPé Vignes, other artist that took my attention, I was aboserved by the video documentary about him, the way he found himself useful by drawing, giving his draws as a kind of "payment" to students in school so they get encourage to not be sad or give up when they didn't get the best results, "flowers to girls and fishes to boys", really want to explore more about him, so I'll let you do your homework too, ok? ;)

After "EUREKA!", there were also two more exhibitions; "O Efeito do Observador",  from the Norlinda and José Lima Collection, that is about photography and also video frames, and invites us to reflect about the effect of observing the others, the objects, the nature, and it was very interesting too, specially the feelings and the stories I was trying to figure out while I was there as an observer.

Also recomend you to visit it!

The other and very fresh exhibition is "Jaime - Vi uma cadela minha com lobos", inaugurated yesterday (9th October 2021).

We can explore Jaime Fernandes (1899-1969) work through the film "Jaime" (1974) by António Reis and Margarida Cordeiro (I think it belongs to Cinemateca Portuguesa), and it is very curious the dynamic he creates between the rigid lines of a two-dimensional and the perspective representation of human and animal figures, but also the metamorphosis, the union of them in anthropomorphic ones.

I think that maybe I will repeat this Sunday morning again! :)

What about you, HOW WAS YOUR SUNDAY?

I confess, I have serious problems to resist my mom's cuisine predicates and when it comes to fall treats... HMMMMM, SO DELICIOUS!

Here's just a pic of her awesome marmalade, look to the color and the texture! Really wish you could feel the smell and taste a little slice, I'm so sure you would understand why it is so irristible!

She cuts off a lot in the sugar, so we can have the nice contrast between quince and that minimum sweet taste needed.

The bread is from Azeda (, a sustainable handmade bread and I love this one with seeds, but the oat bread or the pumpkin one are also delicious too! :)

By the way, what do you think about these new hand knitted coasters? Soon they will be available online, if you click in the image ABOVE you can check the DANI IN DA HOUSE page and buy your favourite ones.

This Sunday was totally dedicated to laziness, tea and cozy time on the sofa, hand knitting while wathing Netflix series and Uva was also delighted with the no plan day.

What kind of person are you?

Wait, don't get me wrong with this question, what I want to mean is if you're the kind of who's always saying that "it's my right! I have my rights! I can just because!" or if, in the other hand, you stop to think about it and "yes, it is my right, but it's also my duty, otherwise, why and how can I get it for granted?"

Today is autarchic election day and I really believe it is very important to vote! Not just because it is a democrathic right we portuguese people have, while there's still so many people not seeing their "free" civil expectations recongnized in so many countries yet! We're in 2021!!!

To vote is a duty! It is our duty to vote so we can have the right to express ourselves when we don't agree with something or when are desapointed with the ones that we believed would be the best to represent us.

It doesn't matter the color of your pen, the really big deal here is to play your duty first, so you can claim your rights then :)

Not voting is to not have a voice. And I don't want to be silent. What about you?

Sunday morning, again that strange melancholy between summer and autumn, and today the antique fair was in Ovar!

I guess I'm lucky, every Sunday happens an antique fair in very close cities to mine and, as usual, we visited another one. Also, we found treasures other people didn't want anymore, but they were just perfect for us!

Gonçalo didn't visit Ovar for a while, so we decided to take a walk and it was very pleasant to see how arranged it was!

Actually, he changed his mind about Ovar; very nice little streets and lovely tiles collections all over the facades.

Sometimes people asked me about where and how do I get my inspiration from, the patchwork and crazy colors combo... for me, they're not so crazy and as you can see, inspiration is all around, everywhere, in every little detail!

And portuguese tiles... we're so lucky to be abble to appreciate them just around the corner! :)

Is it only me feeling that summer is already saying goodbye, even though today was such a hot day?

Days are getting smaller, light is more warm and trees release their leaves that start dancing more and more in the air, moving in circles while they fall and then touch the floor... Mom already started to do jams and we just can't resist them with some cheese and a few rusks, with a Porto wine glass after dinner!

Guess Autumn is right here, isn't it?

Yesterday, mom gave me some figs from her backyard and must say I just looooove all the fruits and vegetebles from there! They're not always pretty or have the best shape, but they have the best smell and the best taste ever!

Do you see this huge smile on my face? I assure you, my tummy smiled even more!

Today was the first Sunday of September and it usually happens the Antique Fair in Espinho, a little beach town, near my hometown.

Not being a novelty that I use to visit and actually find and buy some material to work, today I found other precious treasures, but this time, for me! And I didn't even spent 10€ fot the three books and for the pair of boots! And the boots are brand new! Can you believe it?

I must confess I have a kind of disorder consumption (I will call it that way), but I love shoes! Yup, I do! Knowing it's not a good exemple, I try to excuse myself by purshasing vintage or second hand shoes. Most of my shoes are second hand, as are my clothes (when they're not daniela ponto final :) ), as are my books, another of my love affairs. I love to read. Read and imagine and let myself travel in the stories the author is telling me.

Right now, I'm reading José Cardoso Pires and his "A República dos Corvos" (1989), started a couple of days ago and I'm really enjoying it, it's the first time I'me reading him.
